Asma Hameed Khan has joined the firm in the year 2009. She is enrolled as an Advocate of High Court and a member of Lahore Bar Association, Punjab Bar Association, and High court Bar Association. She did her law graduation from one of the prestigious Universities of Pakistan and a fellow of University of Oregon, USA. She has obtained Masters (Political Science) Degree and has also done Diploma in Intellectual Property Laws.
Practice Focus
Asma has a broad-based business-transactional practice focusing on complex corporate matters, with an emphasis on cross-border transactions. Her experience extends to joint venture transactions, international acquisitions, multijurisdictional corporate reorganizations and international franchising and distribution transactions. Ms. Khan also has significant experience representing private companies on domestic real estate and finance matters, as well as domestic mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Khan as a senior associate corporate section routinely assists clients on corporate transactions, with an emphasis on international business transactions, commercial contracts and other corporate matters. Asma likewise assists clients in preparing international franchise agreements including master franchise, direct franchise, distribution and development agreements and international disclosure documents.
Asma has also specialized in Intellectual Property Laws and has several years of experience across the full range of commercial and contentious intellectual property matters with a particular focus on franchising. She has also advised many multi-national organizations on trade mark, copyright and domain name protection and enforcement matters. Asma advises a wide range of clients on brand development and extension, the creation of strategies for managing global intellectual property portfolios, and the licensing and commercialization of intellectual property assets. She also works with clients seeking to license intellectual property and expand their businesses through traditional franchise models and in the development of franchise rights.
In addition to formal corporate work, Asma has conducted and assisted in various arbitrations and mediations and provided coverage advice to clients to assist them in avoiding disputes without the need for litigation. She has prevailed in arbitrations involving various insurance and reinsurance-related disputes and claims in domestic arbitrations, including recovering the fees and expenses as the prevailing party. Further, she has also advised leading international law firms on various labour and tax law issues and also assists her senior partner in litigation.
Asma has written many articles which have been published in various national and international journals. She was spoken to many Conferences related to mediation and also Represented Pakistan in 31st Public interest Environmental Conference (Environmental law alliance worldwide “ELAW”) at University of Oregon. She also delivered lecture to LLM/PhD students on environmental law at University of Oregon, USA. She has been mainly assisting World Bank for last 5 years in doing business project and has been awarded with the certificate of appreciation for the years 2009 to 2014.
